These moong dal ladoo made from moong lentils are so simple yet so delicious. These taste just like Besan Ladoo, If you don’t tell, nobody would know they are made of moong lentils. Although the recipe is very simple, it has a bit tiring step of roasting it in a low flame. Well, there isn’t any alternative for it – you need to roast it for a minimum of 15-20 mins. But its taste is definitely worth the effort. Plus it is a protein filled recipe 😜
Ingredients
- 1 cup Moong Dal
- ⅓ cup Powdered Sugar
- ¼ cup Ghee (melted)
- ½ tsp Cardamom Powder
- Chopped Pistachios (for garnishing)
Preparation
- In a thick bottomed pan, add the moong dal and begin roasting it on a low flame.
- Keep stirring often to ensure even browning and cooking.
- Once the moong dal turns golden and becomes aromatic, remove from heat.
- Transfer the dal to a plate. This will stop the dal getting cooked further from the heat of the pan.
- Let it cool completely.
- Once the dal is cooled down, add them in a grinder jar and grind to a fine powder.
- Sift the moong dal powder with the sieve.
- Now add powdered sugar and cardamom powder to the moong dal powder. Mix well.
- Now add the melted ghee to the mixture. Mix very well.
- Now start shaping the mixture into small balls or ladoos.
- Garnish with pistachios.
- Your moong dal ladoos are ready.
- Enjoy!!!
Tips
- Use only the pan or kadai which has a heavy base or else the moong dal will get browned too fast with uneven cooking and roasting.
- If the mixture looks dry, then add 1 to 2 tablespoons more ghee.
Storage
Store the remaining moong dal ladoos in an airtight box or jar and keep at room temperature or refrigerate.
