
Rajma Tikki is a hearty, delicious, satisfying and super healthy snack made from good old kidney beans. It is such a healthy option for your breakfast or evening snacks. You can even use them as a patty for your wraps, burgers and sandwiches. Honestly, they are so flavourful and easy to make that once you make it, it will become a regular part of your meals….. “Ek baar khaoge toh khaate reh jaoge, no one can just eat one” 😜
This recipe serves 2. Makes around 8 medium sized tikkis.
Ingredients
- 1 cup cooked rajma
- 3 tablespoons onion, finely chopped
- 2 tablespoons capsicum, finely chopped
- 2 tablespoons carrot, grated
- 2 tablespoons beetroot, grated
- 2 tablespoons of green coriander leaves, finely chopped
- 1-2 green chillies, finely chopped
- 2 tablespoons besan (chickpea flour)
- ½ tsp roasted cumin powder (jeera powder)
- ¼ tsp black pepper powder
- ¼ tsp red chilli powder (optional)
- 1 pinch of turmeric powder
- Salt to taste
- Oil for shallow frying
Preparation
- Put the cooked rajmas in a blender. Pulse to a coarse mixture. You can even mash them with a fork.
- Put the rajma mixture into a bowl.
- Add onions, capsicum, carrot, beetroot, green coriander leaves, green chillies, besan, cumin powder, black pepper powder, red chilli powder, turmeric powder and salt.
- Mix until well combined.
- With oiled hands, shape the mixture into round tikkis.
- Now heat a pan. Drizzle oil so that it covers the bottom of the pan.
- Place the tikkis on the pan and cook on low heat.
- When the bottom turns golden brown. Flip and cook till the other side also turns golden brown.
- Your rajma tikkis are ready. Serve them hot with coriander chutney.

Tips
- You can add any veggies according to your personal preference. Feel free to play with the ingredients.
- You can make the mixture ahead of time and store it in an air-tight container in the refrigerator 8 for upto 2 days.
- Or else, you can make tikkis and put it in an air-tight container and warm it while having it. It stays good upto 3 days in the refrigerator.
